The overarching goal of the ADMBV Project is to present a publicly-accessible, anthropologically informed history of the Brazos Valley and its communities. Please reach out to us if:

You are interested in collaborating with or volunteering with the project. We want this project to be community driven and based; this history of the Brazos Valley and the communities that lived there are important to every Texan and a vital facet of Texas history.
You have any information you would be willing to share regarding the Brazos Valley. A large component of the project is combining the archaeological record with oral histories. The stories and memories from people who grew up in the Brazos Bottoms are important and significant.

Ethical & Stakeholder Considerations

The ADMBV Project prioritizes the narrative of the descendant community. In recognition that these cemeteries are still being used for their original purpose and that they remain active cemeteries for many descendants, the voices of those descendants will inform all aspects of this project.

The project will maintain the utmost respect for the artifacts collected, with the acknowledgement of their important role as memorials for the deceased. At all steps of this project, the artifacts will be treated with the dignity that honors their cultural roles. Decisions regarding this project will be community-driven and the final location of the artifacts recovered will be determined by the wishes of the descendant community.
